Closara ("Closara," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website at closara.app and the Closara virtual try-on service (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. We care deeply about your privacy — especially because the Service can involve a photo of you.

Information we collect

• Account information. If you create an account or join our waitlist, we collect your email address and any name you choose to provide.
• Photos you provide. To show clothing on you, the Service uses a photo you upload. We treat your photo as sensitive personal information.
• Style and fit inputs. Optional details such as a size preset, saved items ("closet"), and items you try on.
• Usage data. Standard analytics such as pages viewed, features used, try-on and save events, and outbound clicks to retailers, along with device and browser information.
• Cookies and similar technologies. Used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure performance. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser.

How we use your information

• To provide the Service — generating try-on images of you, showing fit guidance, and saving your closet.
• To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
• To communicate with you about the Service, including waitlist and account updates.
• To understand which products and retailers are popular in aggregate, so we can improve our catalog and partnerships. This is done with de-identified, aggregated data — not your identity.

Your photo and consent

We only process your photo after you have given explicit consent, and only to generate try-on images of you. Specifically:

• Generation runs on a photo you provide of yourself. The Service is not intended for creating images of other people.
• Your photo is stored securely (encrypted) and retained only as long as needed to provide your closet, or until you delete it.
• You can delete your photo and associated data at any time from your account, or by contacting us.
• Depending on where you live, photos may be considered biometric or sensitive data under laws such as the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) or the EU/UK GDPR. We aim to handle this data consistently with those requirements, including consent and retention limits.

Affiliate links and retailers

Closara helps you discover and try on clothing sold by third-party retailers. We do not sell products, hold inventory, or process payments. When you choose to buy something, we hand you off to the retailer's own website to complete the purchase. Some of these outbound links are affiliate links, meaning Closara may earn a commission when you make a purchase, at no additional cost to you. Once you leave Closara for a retailer's site, that retailer's own privacy policy and terms apply.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:

• Service providers who help us run Closara (for example, hosting, image generation, and analytics providers), under contracts that require them to protect your data.
• Retailers and affiliate networks, but only de-identified or aggregated demand signals (for example, that a product was viewed or clicked), never your photo or identity.
• Legal and safety recipients, when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.

Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and then delete or de-identify it, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes. Photos are retained only as long as needed for your closet, or until you delete them.

Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to withdraw consent, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@closara.app. You can also delete your photo and account data directly from your account.

Children

Closara is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption of stored photos and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to limit retention.

International users

Closara may process and store information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
